This is an ongoing project that visually explores how the Irish traveller community’s way of life has been exoticized throughout history, and has spawned coffee-table books and postcards aplenty.

The travellers are a distinct Irish ethnic minority, and their origins have been disputed. One theory is that they are descendents of the Irish people who were displaced by Oliver Cromwell’s military campaign in Ireland in the 1650s. The European Parliament Committee of Enquiry on Racism and Xenophobia found the travellers to be among the most discriminated against ethnic groups in Ireland.
